Biography

Maria Matthaiou Fotaki holds a Ph.D. in the field of Strategy and Corporate Governance from the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). In her Ph.D. thesis, she has focused on the components and the effectiveness of good corporate governance. Maria also holds a BA in Economics and an MBA from the International MBA Program of the same university. Maria has received during her studies plenty of scholarships and honors for exceptional academic performance from the State Scholarships Foundation and other institutions. Her primary area of research is Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business Ethics and Strategic Management. Her secondary fields of desired teaching and research are Managerial Economics and Applied Econometrics. Her work has been published in several scientific conferences (e.g. British Academy of Management, Conference of the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, European Management Finance Association, etc.) as well as in the national press. She joined the Management Science Laboratory of AUEB in 2004, where she has been part of more than 10 projects, working as a research assistant. Recently, she has joined the Strategy & Enterpreurship Laboratory of AUEB. Maria has previously worked as a research assistant in the Athens Institute of Economic Policy Studies (IMOP) and in the Business Trends Department of the Foundation of Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) of Athens. Moreover, Maria has contributed as a freelancer consultant in several organizations. Since 2010, she is an academic tutor in the Executive & Continuous Education Programs of the E-learning Program of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as well as in the Postgraduate Distance Education Programs of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
